Course: Ground Disturbance - Industry Recommended Practice 17

This is a 4-hour course that will provide training to personnel who are involved with a ground disturbance operation. They will be trained on the various rules, regulations and procedures that are pertinent for ground disturbance work. Training topics will include:

• Information sources that can be utilized to search for underground facilities;
• How to provide notification of a ground disturbance to the facility owner;
• Receipt of owner notification;
• Correct crossing and approvals agreements and registrations;
• Provincial regulations and guidelines including permit requirements and pre-job planning meetings;
• Proper planning procedures including plot plans and site drawings;
• Rules, regulations and job procedures concerning the actual exposure of underground facilities;
• Rules, regulations and job procedures concerning the back-fill operations;
• Rules, regulations and procedures concerning the contact of an underground facility; and
• Emergency response planning.
