Fire Extinguisher Training with Live Fire - National Firefighting Prevention Association Standards (NFPA) & Industry Recommended Practice 18

This is a four hour course, with the first portion of the course spent in the classroom where a series of demonstrations are used to ensure that the participants fully understand the nature of fire and firefighting techniques. This course is designed to teach a level of competency, ensuing that the students will be confident in the actions taken in the event of a fire. The topics covered will include the identification of different classes of fires and the fundamentals of fire chemistry including the elements of fire (the "fire tetrahedron") and its nature and risks of stages to better understand fire prevention. Should a fire occur, this course describes, the types of fire, which should determine the type and the appropriate class of fire extinguisher to be used in different situations. Including the proper fire fighting techniques with a fire extinguisher, the steps to properly use an extinguisher and how to inspect an extinguisher. The remainder of the course is spent on the participants having actual hands-on training in fighting a variety of live fires.

Fire Extinguisher Use - Underwriters Laboratory

This is a two hour training course designed to provide participants with the knowledge necessary to fight a fire. It is intended to help anyone who may be exposed to fire or potential fire hazards in their workplace, better understand the potential uses of the fire extinguisher as well as their limitations. This course includes a series of demonstrations used to ensure that the participants fully understand the nature of fire and firefighting techniques.

This course is designed to teach a level of competency, ensuring that the students will be confident in the actions taken in the event of a fire. The topics covered will include the identification of different classes of fires and the appropriate class of fire extinguisher to be used in different situations. Proper fire-fighting technique with a fire extinguisher, how to inspect extinguishers properly, and proper storage of extinguishers are included.
